The existing Wilson St Bridge over the Fox River was constructed in 1911. The City of Batavia wanted the new bridge to resemble the old bridge with a modern architectural and structural design. The $10 million project started in February 2007.
This three span post tensioned concrete slab deck varies from 2 ft to 4 ft thick at the piers with a cambered bottom to give an arched look to the spans. The superstructure is 240 ft long x 75 ft wide with four overhang outlooks at the end of each bridge pier. The main superstructure consists of 1,700 cy of concrete. Project completion scheduled for December 2008.
